Charles Glen “Slick” Gallion, 90, of Jenkins, died November 28 at Pikeville Medical Center.
Born in Jenkins, he was a son of the late Jim and Mattie Mullins Gallion. He was also preceded in death by a son, Charles “Jeff ” Gallion; six brothers, and three sisters.
Mr. Gallion was a minister for more than 63 years and was a member of the Payne Gap Freewill Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Loretta Jo Mullins Gallion; a son, Roddy Gallion and wife Susan F. of Jenkins; three daughters, Lana Preston and husband William of Chapel Hill, Tenn.; Ruth Collins and husband George of Pikeville, and JoNell Gallion Sanders and husband Barry of Lexington; a sister, Hazel Ratliff of Cleveland, Ohio; a brother, Carl “Jake” Gallion of Jenkins; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held December 1 at the Payne Gap Freewill Baptist Church. Burial was in the Laurel Fork Cemetery at Payne Gap.
Carty Funeral Homes of Jenkins & Neon had charge of arrangements.
