Charles Stallard dies in Bristol, TN

Charles D. Stallard, 78, of Jenkins, died June 16 at Bristol Regional Hospital.

A son of the late John M. and Laura Jane Bentley Stallard, he was born in Neon. He was graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a master’s degree in education, and taught at Fleming-Neon High School and was retired as principal of Jenkins High School.

A member of the First Baptist Church, he served as a deacon of the Fleming Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, and was Masons Grand Commander of Kentucky.

He was a brother of the late Sadie Louise Whidden of Tampa, Fla.

Surviving are his wife, Doris Anderson Stallard; a son, Charles D. Stallard II of Los Angeles, Calif.; a daughter, Sharra C. Kegan and husband S. Ross of Dryden, Va.; a brother, Jack M. Stallard and wife Sue of Seco; a sister, Alice Jane Dalton of Knoxville, Tenn.; and two grandchildren, Laura Catherine Kegan and fiancé Joshua Ryan of Pikeville and Jonathon Seth Kegan of Washington, D.C.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) in Jenkins. Burial will be in the Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine.
