Funeral services for the Rev. Chester Lee Hatton, 78, of Russell Springs, will be held at 1 p.m. today (May 17) in Whitesburg. Burial will be in the R.B. Caudill Cemetery in Whitco.
He died May 14 after a long illness.
Born in Whitco to the late John Henry “Johnie” and Mattie Mae Mullins Hatton, he was a brother of the late William Junior Hatton, David Senior Hatton, James G. “Nig” Hatton, Roy Edward Hatton, Clayton Herbert “Claty” Hatton, Virgil Huber Hatton and Flossie Ruth Hatton.
He was a brother-in-law of the late Chester Brown.
Rev. Hatton was an E7 senior master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He was an ordained bishop in the Church of God, and served as pastor in several churches in Kentucky.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Ann Jones Hatton; three daughters, Nora Ruth Hatton of Pittsburg, Kans., Hester Marie Owens and husband Rick of Hebron, and Laura Lee “Motsy” Hatton of Bowling Green; two sisters, Fleta Mae Brown and Alberta Barker and husband Jerry, all of Whitco; a sister-in-law, Ruth Hatton of Bishopville, N. C.; and four grandchildren, Tanalisa Lauren Hatton Phillips and husband Will, Travis Chet Owens, Jennarae Ruth Niece and Kevin James Owens.
