Children’s run to benefit Imagination Library

The Rotary Club will hold a Little Engine Run Saturday, Oct. 24, beginning at 4 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Park in downtown Whitesburg. The race is open to all children up to 9 years old. Registration fee is $5 for children ages 5-9, and no charge for children under 5 years of age.

Awards will be given in each category with registration held the day of the race. A bicycle will be given away to one participant, and each participant will receive a Halloween treat. A table will be set up to register children under 5 years of age who live in Letcher County for the Imagination Library Program; each child registered will receive a free book that day. Children registered for the Imagination Library program receive a free book in the mail each month until they reach 5 years of age.

A zombie dance for the children will immediately follow. Children should come dressed as a zombie, in a Halloween costume or running clothes. Immediately following the Little Engine Run at 5 p.m. at the same location will be Rotary’s first Zombie 5K Run/1-Mile Walk.

For more information contact Margaret Hammonds at 633-8200 or Reed Caudill at 633-0161. All proceeds benefit Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program in Letcher County, which is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Whitesburg.
