Chris Hatton a danger to big fish

The Red Hatters spent their June outing shopping in Letcher County. The first stop was Annie’s Frugal Finery, then on to Vendor’s Mountain Mall, then to Isom Vendor’s Mall and lunch at Paradise Pizza. Hello everyone, hope you are all doing OK.

Summer started June 20, but it’s been feeling like summer for a long time.

I’m glad we got a good rain last Wednesday night. The gardens sure looked like they were glad to see it. All the gardens I’ve seen look real good.

I went to the funeral of Oneil Maggard. There was a large crowd there. I was so glad to see his brother Adrian and his wife Donna there. They were my neighbors a long time ago when their sons were small. They were great neighbors. They gave me a cocker spaniel puppy. I loved it but I can’t remember its name. It’s been too long I guess.

There was also another funeral. I didn’t get to go to it. Shannoka Ann Adams was killed in a car wreck near Blair Branch. I never met here. Her mother was Shelsie (Page) Shipp of Kingsport, Tenn., who was the daughter of my good friends the late Wide and Minnie Page.

Our sympathy goes out to both families and all who have lost loved ones.

My sister Kathleen Brock has been in Whitesburg Hospital for a few days. She came home yesterday and is still not feeling very well. Hope she is doing better now.

Also, Aggie Hatton is back in the hospital again. I hope she is doing better. She has had a long time not doing well. Her husband

Charlie Hatton has health problems also. They need everyone’s prayers.

I got a call from our cousin Ruby Howard in Fort Wayne, Ind. She’s been having health problems also. Her sister-inlaw Brenda (Jones) Howard is not doing well at all.

I just heard Sonia Fields, one of our church ladies, has been to Washington, D.C., with the Girl Scouts. She has worked with them for years. She’s a fine lady. We all love her.

I think my grandson Chris Hatton has been showing off, winning these fishing tournaments. I think he’s won three. I’ll tell you what, if you are a big fish, you had better stay away from Chris because he’s look for you and he’ll catch you if he can.

I’ve got some people I want to brag on, it’s our Monday night prayer meeting group. We have it every week and we have some that are so faithful. If they aren’t there, we know they are sick or out of town. They are Daniel Cook and wife Shirley, Rick Collins and wife Ivada, Kevin Adams, Rodney Allen, Donald Enfusse, Jack Standifer and our pastor John Conn, Levine Fields, Ruth Dollarhide, Darlene Maggard and Gabrielle Adams. We love prayer meeting!

We just found out Gabrielle Adams had her baby boy on Friday morning. It was too early but mother and baby are both OK. I went up and saw the baby Saturday. He is beautiful! He weighs almost 6 pounds and he is so alert and mom Gabrielle is doing fine and taking care of her baby. I enjoyed my visit with them. I had never held a baby that small, but I didn’t drop him.

I enjoyed getting a call from an old friend today, Ruby Mohn of Corbin. A lot of you people will remember her. She was a Whitesburg girl and we talked and talked. We covered a lot of ground talking about our families and friends. She seemed to be doing OK and keeping busy.

Our church will be having homecoming beginning July 9 with Bro. Wendell Pittman from Missouri. He’s been coming for many years and the people all love him and his wife. Our pastor Bro. John Conn and the congregation welcome everyone.

Remember all our sick folks. Shirley Niece needs everyone’s prayers.

May God bless all of you. Try to be in church somewhere this week.
