Christmas for Charity Ball planned

The 11th annual Christmas for Charity Ball will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5, at the First Federal Center at Hazard Community and Technical College.

Proceeds from this year’s ball will benefit Hospice of the Bluegrass- Mountain Community for the Hospice Free-standing Inpatient Facility. This summer, construction began on the Hospice Inpatient Facility — a first for southeastern Kentucky. The 20,000-square foot facility, located on Miss Edna Lane in Hazard, will have 12 patient suites with space for visitors and areas for family members to stay overnight.

Christmas for Charity was established in 1999 and has donated over $300,000 to local charities. In 2007, the Christmas for Charity Endowed Scholarship Fund was established.

Businesses are being sought to sponsor the event. Sponsorships range from $1,500 to $3,000. Individual tickets for the ball will go on sale Nov. 16, and will be available at the Hazard Clinic or by mail. Tickets will be $85 per person. A maximum of 500 seats will be available. Make checks payable to Christmas for Charity and mail to P.O. Box 719, Hazard, Kentucky 41702. For more information, call (606) 439-1316.
