Last week was a good one. It was the Union meeting of Little Cowan Primitive Baptist Church with good preaching and good fellowship from Wednesday through Sunday.
We had a special treat Sunday when Elsie Banks came to church. She really enjoyed being there and we really enjoyed having her. We appreciate her niece, Anna Yonts, for bringing her. After church and a good dinner at the church, they went by to see her neighbor, Dorothy Caudill.
The Cowan Homemakers met at the community center with Anna Yonts as the hostess. We had a great time with good attendance, and a guest, Minerva Yonts.
We are enjoying having Minerva and Russell on Cowan this week. They and Anna and Duane went to the Breaks one day. They said it was beautiful and they got to see a train passing through the canyon.
Russell brought Virginia a beautiful cane he had made with an old-fashioned white doorknob for the top and macramé trim.
Sept. 1, Diane Jordan and Darla Halcomb celebrated their birthday together. They are sisters born on the same day, three years apart. Their mother, Bonnie Banks, made them a good dinner with their favorite cakes. They are sisters of Doris Banks, who works at Food City Florist.
