I missed everyone last week. I wasn’t feeling the best. Clester and I both were feeling bad. Thank God we are much improved. We got our flu shots this week.
Special prayer requests for Darlene Collins Spears. She began her chemo this week.
Christine Fields had a birthday and we hope she had a good one. She is a fine lady.
Ms. Cierra Jade Cook and her dog Bo had a big birthday bash at the Colson Center. Jade will be 8 and Bo is 1. The magic show was fantastic. I think I enjoyed it as much as the little children. It’s so good to see the little ones having fun. After the party my great niece Kaylee put on a show for us; she did magic with her hat and wand. Jade thanks everyone for the nice gifts she received.
Ms. Casey, my nextdoor neighbor, is having a big birthday this week, she will be 2. Her Aunt Phyllis and Uncle Ricky Yonts want to wish her a happy birthday. She is a very special little girl and has a big sister named A.J.
We extend sympathy to the family of Enid Sparks. She died in Indiana and was brought back here to Deane for visitation and burial. Her husband was the late Harold D. Sparks. Enid was a beautiful lady. I know her friend Annette will miss her. Colson
Lucky Sexton is a happy hunter. He got a 12-point buck. We surely can expect some jerky.
A good time was had at the Hemphill Center this past Friday night. Maxine Quillen, Joann Hall and Imogene Sexton were there. Imogene was thrilled to receive roses from an admirer. Also attending were Manis and Doris Roberts, Tommy and Shirley Adams and Ed and Leanna Mullins and many others. They enjoyed a potluck dinner. They will have another potluck on the third Friday of December.
Oh, be sure and take the children to breakfast with Santa on December the 17. It’s OK to go even if you are a grownup kid!
Maxine got a call from her cousin, Jessie Lee Honeycutt Collins of Huntington, W.Va., this week. They are all doing well.
Jesse Quillen lost his two front teeth so we know what he wants for Christmas. Jesse is the son of Jack and Krystal Caudill Quillen and grandson of Maxine. His Pappa is Jonah Caudill who lives just up from him.
Paul Adams is in the hospital but hopes to be home for Thanksgiving. He has been having a rough time and lets all continue to keep him in our prayers.
Sidney Willis Amburgey has finished his treatments and is beginning to feel better, for which we are so thankful.
Lettie Hall called last night. They had their Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday with all the children and grandchildren and lots of cousins. Debbie said it was wonderful to see all the family and especially the little ones.
Talked to Otho and Pat Holcomb this week. She said they were doing well. I think Otho has bought at least 30 or more Volume 6 picture books. He loves to give them to his friends and family. Hey, they make good gifts. You have heard the expression the gift that keeps on giving, well the books do just that. I honestly believe I see pictures in them that I can’t remember seeing before !
I am working on Volume 12 Pictorial and another marriage book. These books make wonderful Christmas gifts.
I talked to Mrs. Santa Claus today and she says she is ready to visit with all of the people in Letcher County so be looking for times and dates for her. She said Santa is doing really well and will be on schedule. I am so excited.
May God Bless us and our nation on this Thanksgiving holiday. We pray for safe travel for our loved ones. May you remember to give thanks to the one who gave hope to all.
