Clabe Edward Potter, 79, of Neon, died December 28 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Born in Hemphill to the late Morgan and Virgie Hunter Potter, he was the widower of Helen Niece Potter.
He was the father of the late LaDonna Bentley and Clabe Edward “Bug” Potter, Jr.
He was also preceded in death by three siblings, Norwood Potter, an infant brother who was stillborn, and a sister.
He was a member of Victory Temple Church and was a well-known mechanic.
Surviving are two daughters, Susie Fleming of Neon, and Sherry Stamper and husband Bobby of Thornton; a son, Casey Ray Potter and wife Alfreda of New Hill, N.C.; six brothers, Charles Eugene Potter of Jefferson City, Tenn., Lee Potter and wife Debbie of Lebanon, Va., William McKinley Potter and wife Janie of Birmingham, Ala., James Morgan Potter and wife Geraldine of Knobnoster, Mo., Terry Wayne Potter of Kingsport, Tenn., and Jeff Potter and wife Michelle of Hemphill; four sisters, Minnie Faye Pratt of Newport, Tenn., Wilma Jean Epifano of Thornville, Oh., Vickie Lynn Watts and husband Ken of Blackey, and Regina Wright and husband Mike of Ermine; 13 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Potter were held December 31 at Carty Funeral Home in Neon. Burial was in the Haven of Rest Cemetery at Mayking.
