John Stewart (left) and Billy Collins worked for two days recently to repair damages in the Blair Cemetery at Pine Mountain Junction in Whitesburg. The cemetery, one of the county’s oldest, was hit by vandals in June. Appalachian Monument Company owner Rokie Frazier said Stewart and Collins have already used 10 bags of concrete and a gallon of special cement glue to put 22 grave markers back into their proper places. “It hurt my feelings,” Frazier said of the vandalism, which he believes had to be the work of three or more strong males. “They didn’t just go up there and knock them over.” Frazier said one monument that is 10 inches thick will be put back into place when extra workers are available to help Stewart and Collins.
