Clerk’s office asking for help in getting ‘Donate Life’ stories

Each person who has a connection to organ and tissue donation and transplantation has walked a unique path. To honor that special path, the Letcher County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office is planning to feature a “Hero Wall” as a way to share local Donate Life stories.

The office is seeking local people who have been touched by donation and transplantation as a recipient, as a member of a donor family, as a living kidney donor, or those on the transplant waiting list.

Letcher Circuit Court Clerk Mike Watts’s office is at 156 Main Street in Whitesburg, on the top floor of the courthouse. The office phone number is 606-633-7559.

“We want to create our Hero Wall to honor those affected locally by this mission and to help educate our community about those affected close to home,” Watts said.

Each Circuit Clerk’s Office in Kentucky’s 120 counties works with the Trust for Life, the state’s organ donor awareness program, to help educate the public about helping people through organ and tissue donation.

Participation in the Hero Wall is available to everyone impacted by donation and transplantation. Sharing your or your loved one’s story honors their memory and conveys a message of hope — that everyone shares the gift of life.

Any Kentucky resident who has not yet joined the Kentucky Donor Registry can do so at www.donatelifeky.org with a valid Driver’s License number or State ID.
