Clifford Gales dies

Funeral services for Clifford Curtis “Smoothie” Gales, 59, of Jenkins, will be held at 11 a.m., March 30, a Polly & Craft Funeral Home in Jenkins. Visitation will take place from 6 to 9 p.m., March 29. Burial will be in Green Acres Cemetery in Ermine.

A son of the late Frank M. Gales Sr. and Anna Langham Gales, he was born in Williamson, W.Va. He died March 21 at Pikeville Medical Center.

Mr. Gales was preceded in death by a son, Damarus Gales, and a brother-in-law, Raymond Lee.

He was a retired heavy equipment operation, and was also a sports enthusiast.

Surviving are a son, Courtland Gales and wife Pamela; three sisters, Joyce A. Lee of Jenkins, Vanessa Payne and husband Lawrence of Richmond, and Priscilla Gales of Lexington; three brothers, Frank M. Gales Jr. of Middlesboro, William L. Gales Sr. of Knoxville, Tenn., and Timothy Gales and wife Tammy of Lexington; two grandchildren, Courtland Gales Jr. and Maleeyia Gales; his former wife, Dorothy Gales; and special friend, Linda Mullins.

Cont r ibutions are suggested to the Kidney Foundation in Mr. Gale’s memory.
