Wednesday, April 27, 2005 Court testimony revealed that the gun Kathy Walters-Williams used to murder 19-year-old Forrester Caudill in November 2003 is the same gun used in the shooting death of Hugh O’Connor, an award-winning Canadian film producer in September 1967. Both shootings occurred at property at Jeremiah which once belonged to the late Hobert Ison, who in March 1969 pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in O’Conner’s death.
. Gov. Ernie Fletcher announced an additional $500,000 funding commitment to extend the paved surface along the Little Shepherd Trail at the US 119 ribbon cutting ceremony at Pine Mountain.
. A rare late-April snowstorm left Letcher County blanketed with a thin coat of snow. The storm dumped up to a foot of snow in other parts of Appalachia, but weather across the region returned to normal the next day.
