Cold hasn’t stopped spring blossoms

Jeremiah

Here it is, another week has come and gone and March is getting gone too. It seems we have one warm day and three cooler ones, but the cold hasn’t stopped a beautiful array of spring blossoms from bursting open. Daffodils, crocus, tulip trees and pear trees are a few that have added some color to our area and the grass has really greened up. Some have even mowed their yards already.

Bob and I visited at Letcher Manor Nursing Home recently. We had a long chat with Lovell Day and enjoyed recounting old times and old-timers at the Tolson Creek Church. We also spoke with Virgil Ray Adams, Mallie Hobbs, Hattie Blair, Johnny Watts, Barbara Boggs and Louise Dixon. Susie Johnson was having supper at the same time as Mallie and we thought that she seemed to be doing pretty well. We are sorry to hear that Raymond and Susie Johnson’s daughter-in-law (Bobby’s wife) has died. Her family had been staying with her during her illness.

Anthony Smith has been on a golfing trip with his brother, Roger. I think they went to South Carolina. Homer and Ruth Smith took their little great-grandson to the aquarium at Pigeon Forge, Tenn., while Anthony and Roger were gone. They all reported a good time.

Homer’s sister, Florene, and her husband, Marion Back, of Indiana, are both in very poor health at this time. We hope they can get to feeling better soon.

Dorse and Gwen Fields would like everyone to know that Dorse is feeling much better and recently got a good doctor’s report. He had a rough winter and is glad to be doing better. He and Gwen picked up garbage along the roadside in front of their house last Friday while the weather was warm. Recently on Dorse’s birthday, he was surprised to receive a big box in the mail and upon opening it, he was pleased to get a new quilt his sister, Iantha, had made for him. She had sent it from Tennessee, where she lives.

After spending some time in Florida over the winter, Toby and Coleen Breeding are back at their home on Spring Branch. Toby reported that the fish were still biting in Florida.

I hope everyone had a nice Easter Sunday and was able to attend the church of their choice.
