Letcher County native Michael Collins has left his job as Washington correspondent for The Cincinnati Post and its sister publication, The Kentucky Post in Covington, and now holds a similar position as the Washington writer for the Knoxville News-Sentinel. He has been working out of Washington since 2001, and also writes for Scripps Howard News Service.
Collins began as a beat reporter for the The Cincinnati Post and The Kentucky Post. He later became the state capital bureau chief in Frankfort for the Kentucky Post, where also worked as night city editor and editorial writer.
A native of Craft’s Colly, Collins earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Western Kentucky University, where he was editor of the award-winning student newspaper, the College Heights Herald. Collins also worked as an intern for The Mountain Eagle while he was a student at Western Kentucky.
