Is finishing a 5K on your bucket list? What about having colored cornstarch splashed on you while exercising?
The Mountain Heritage Festival is organizing a 5K called Color Me Crazy. The race starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, at the old Whitesburg High School campus. It continues to the city walking track and on to the sewer plant. Then participants head back toward downtown Whitesburg to Long Avenue, proceed to Main Street and the race ends at the old WHS campus.
At various points throughout the 3.1-mile route, volunteers will toss colored cornstarch on participants.
Runners and walkers will be clean at the start line and will be wearing white shirts. At the finish line, participants will be covered in bright colors.
“It is about having fun,” said Lee Anna Mullins, chairperson of the Mountain Heritage Festival Committee.
Entry fee is $25 for adults and $15 for children up to the age of 13. For groups of four or more, the fee will be $20 per person in the group, or $10 per child in a group.
Preregistration is required. Registration forms are available at Pine Mountain Outfitters, Community Trust Bank, Whitaker Bank and online at www.mountainheritagefestival.com. Preregister by calling Mendy Boggs at 606-589-6226 or 859-361-5630 or Mullins at 633-9644.
Participants will receive a free T-shirt and a pair of sunglasses.
