Colson seniors were boot scootin’

Colson

The Colson seniors hosted a potluck dinner on Friday. The food was delicious. We have such good cooks in Letcher County. Our special guests were the ‘’Food Line Band”. Those boys sure can pick and sing. Hey, they can now pick and sing “Rocky Top”. I had been requesting it since our center opened and what fun we had dancing to that good ole song. Thanks, guys ! A few of the younger seniors did a little bit of boot scootin’.

Well, Nora Logan is back on the fast track with winning almost every game of Bingo this week. Where does that girl get all her luck? She won five games!

Everett Meade’s grandson and his daughter-inlaw were in a car wreck. The grandson Brandon had a broken neck, but his mom wasn’t injured. Brandon had surgery and is probably home by now. Our prayers are with Brandon.

Allison Helton has been in Pikeville Hospital, a very sick girl. She is such a special girl and so loved by everyone. We wish her the best and hope she will continue to improve.

Desta Anderson Hall is a patient at the hospital in Whitesburg. Last I heard she was some better. She is the aunt of Annette Isaacs and Lena Parsons. Annette keeps me updated on her condition. I have known Desta all my life and she is a fine lady. She knew my mom and would tell me about her. My mom died when I was five months old.

Happy birthday wishes to my grandson Jason Holbrook, his wife Tina, and my granddaughter Amanda Holbrook. We will be doing some major celebrating when they come home for Thanksgiving. Also celebrating this week are Carrie Lee Hall, Ronald Isaacs, and Tex Sturgill. Hope you each have a blessed day!

Get well wishes to Kim Spicer Ison, Rita Isaac, John Salyers, Steve Brown, Doug and Jo Hall, Neva McCarty, S.T. Wright, Maxine Quillen Margaret Combs, Linda Lou Lucas, and Jean Cook.

Lisa Bentley and Annette Isaacs were in Lexington this week for a doctor’s appointment. I bet they did some shopping too.

Janice Baker, Kathy Adams. Katina Benton, Nikkia Lucas, Ashley Benton and Brooke Lucas were in Tennessee for a girls’ weekend. Katina wanted someone to wire her some money so I know they shopped a lot.

Richard and Bonnie Kincer are expecting family in for Thanksgiving. Gary and Rebecca are coming in but they have to go back and work on Friday so Addison and Carter will be staying over and I know the good times will roll. Gregory had to go to Pittsburgh on a business trip so hopefully he will be able to come with his family.

Visiting in Knott and Letcher counties this week were my brother, Warren Douglas Baker, his Aunt Lettie Hall and her granddaughter, Brittany Brock. We are always so glad to see them.

Plans are coming along for the Monument Park for The Giant, Martin Van Buren Bates. We are asking for any help with this project. I will keep you posted about the plans. We will meet this week with Doug Adams and a few others.

The Historical Society received Volumes 8 and 9 of the Pictorials this week. I think the books are great and just call if you would like to have them. The ones who have bought will get theirs in a day or so.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and may we all give thanks for our many blessings.
