Combs picked to lead panel

State Rep. Leslie Combs has been chosen to lead the Administrative Regulations Subcommittee, said House Speaker Greg Stumbo.

“This committee keeps close tabs on the literally thousands of rules that various state agencies have enacted, rules that have the same force as law,” Speaker Stumbo said. “Having the right person lead this effort is crucial, which is why Leslie is ideal for this job.”

“I’m honored to be given this responsibility,” said Rep. Combs, D-Pikeville. “There is a lot of work in front of us, but I am ready to hit the ground running, to make sure the committee fulfills its watchdog role in the best way possible. We need to make sure these regulations uphold the legislative intent of the laws they are based upon.”

The Administrative Regulations Subcommittee, one of eight legislative committees that oversees specific areas of state government, reviews approximately 1,000 regulations each year.
