July 4 — The second annual Fourth of July celebration by Rte. 7 Artisan Fellowship will take place at the gazebo on Clark Drive at the Upper Twin Bridge in Letcher beginning at 5 p.m. The event will include cornhole games, food, and bluegrass music. The celebration is a fundraiser for the Rte. 7 Artisan Fellowship.
. July 5 — The Pine Mountain Regional Industrial Development Authority will meet at 12:30 p.m. in the Board Room of the Pineville Community Hospital.
. July 6 — Karaoke will take place at the American Legion Post on Pine Mountain every Friday beginning at 9 p.m. Attendees must be 21 years old or older. For more information, call 633-2834.
. July 9- 11 — Letcher County Central High School cheerleaders will host a cheerleading camp from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the LCCHS gymnasium. The cost is $50 and the camp is open to ages 2 to 15 yrs old. All participants will receive a free t-shirt and are invited to cheer with the LCCHS cheerleaders at the home football game against North Laurel on Oct 5. . July 13- 15 — The Whitesburg Tennis Classic Tournament will be held July 13-15 at the Whitesburg City Courts. Play will begin at 5 p.m., Friday, July 13. The entry deadline is 6 p.m., July 11. The events
will include Men’s A, B, and C Singles and Doubles, Women’s A, B, and C Singles and Doubles, Men’s and Women’s 40, 50, 60 & Over Singles and Doubles, Juniors: Boys’ and Girls’ 14, 16 & 18 and Under Singles and Doubles. . July 14 — Carcassonne Community Center will host its monthly square dance from 6 to 9 p.m. Music by Sunrise Ridge. The admission is adults, $5; students, 6-18, $3; children under 6, free with paying adult. Concessions, a special meal, and souvenirs available for purchase. Carcassonne is known as the home of the longestrunning community-sponsored square dance in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
. July 28 — The Special People Advocating Recovery in Kentucky (S.P.A.R.K.) Recovery Rally will be held on the Letcher County Courthouse steps and on Main Street in Whitesburg from 1 to 4 p.m. The event, hosted by Letcher County Attorney Jamie Hatton, will include music, testimonies, kids’ activities, resource tables, a balloon release, and free hotdogs, chips and drinks.
