August 3 — The Whitesburg Masonic Lodge #754 will hold the third annual Golf Scramble at Raven Rock Golf Course at Jenkins. Registration is at 9 a.m. and a shot-gun start at 10 a.m. The cost is $50 a player, $200 for a team of four. Lunch will be provided. August 3 — HLT Check Exchange will host a Back to School Bash from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will include free school supply packs, free food and drinks, face painting, and other activities, a registration to win one of two backpacks full of school supplies. . August 9 — A Kids’ Day hosted by the Burdine Church of God of Prophecy will be held from noon to 3 p.m. at Jenkins City Park. There will be free school supplies, inflatables, food and games.

. August 11 — The W.omen O.f W.orship women’s conference will begin at 4 p.m. with guest speaker Sid Sturgill Renfro. The conference will be held at Burdine Church of God of Prophecy and will include prayer, singing, ministries, worship and refreshments.

. August 11- 12 — weekend of shape note singing will be held at the second annual East Kentucky Double All-Day Singing. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Calvary Campus at Letcher on Saturday, and at Hemphill Community Center on Sunday. Childcare is available upon request. The singing is free and open to the public and everyone is welcome. August 11 — The Seventh Sons and Whitesburg Bike Nite will host a motorcycle ride for I Can Services. Sign-up will be at Riverside Park in Whitesburg at 11 a.m. and kickstands up at 12 p.m. Cost is $10 a person or $15 with rider. I Can will provide food for the riders. . August 11 — Whitesburg Bike Nite will begin at 6 p.m. in the parking lot at the Veterans Museum in downtown Whitesburg. The event will include bike games and trophies will be given. Those attending should bring a lawn chair. For more information, call Sheila Shortt at (606) 335-7187.

. September 29 — The Letcher County Picnic will be held at the Harrison Community Center, 300 Broadway, Harrison, Ohio 45030 beginning at noon. Those attending should bring a covered dish and a drink. For more information, call (513) 526-8512.
