July 22 — The Letcher County Central High School cheerleaders will host a midnight summer swim and glow party from 9 to 11:30 p.m. at the Whitesburg City Pool. A live DJ will be in attendance. Cost of admittance is $5 per person.

. July 23 — A shooting match will be held at 2 p.m., at American Legion Post #152 at Pine Mountain Junction. Whatever you bring, you shoot. For more information, call 634-1459 or 633-2834.

. July 23 — State of Mind will play at American Legion Post #152 of Whitesburg from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Attendees must be 21 years old or older. For more information, call 606-633-2834

. July 23 — Mitchell, Gentry, Whitaker family reunion at the Pin Oak Shelter at Carr Creek Lake at 11 a.m. Those attending should bring a covered dish, soft drinks, and item for auction. For more information, call Cuma Jean Miller at (606) 633-4702.

. July 23-24 — The Amburgey family reunion will begin with a 6p.m.Saturday dinner at Knott County

Central High School. The cost is $15 per person. Contact Lucille Combs at 606- 642-3842 to be added to the list for the dinner. The Sunday reunion will also be held at Knott County Central High School from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Those attending should bring a covered dish.

. July 23 — Cross Country Bluegrass will play at Country Cabin II in Norton, Va. The show will take place from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and $1 for children 2 to 11 years old.

. July 29-30 — The Buckcreek reunion will begin with a wiener roast and auction Friday night and dinner Saturday at 1 p.m. All family and friends are invited. For more information, call 633-5462.

. August 4 — Letcher Middle School will have sixth grade orientation from 2:30 – 4 p.m. in the LMS library. Letcher Middle School’s back-to-school pool party and cookout will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Whitesburg Municipal Swimming Pool. The event is for all incoming LMS students, staff and families. . August 5-6 — A reunion of the Adams, Thompson and Blair families will be held at the Arthur and Helmer Adams property on Blair Branch. . August 6 — The 13th reunion of the family of Henry and Rosilla Collins and Silas and Effie Collins will be held at Pin Oak at Carr Creek Lake from noon to 6 p.m. Those attending should bring a covered dish. For more information, call Oscar Collins at 633-0068, or Russell Collins at 633- 0758.

. August 6-7 — Descendants of W.S. and Laura Bentley will host a reunion. On Sunday, there will be a dinner at 1 p.m. at the old Bentley farm at Letitia on Schultz Road near South Shore in Greenup County.

Those attending should bring a covered dish. Table service provided. Family, friends and neighbors are invited to attend. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Mt. Zion Cemetery at Siloam for Beulah Bentley-Collier. For more information, call D. Bentley at (606) 932-4526.

. August 27 — Pine Mountain Settlement School will host Community Fair Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Exhibits will be registered from 9 to 11 a.m. and winners announced at noon. . October 15 — Tickets are on sale for a murder mystery dinner hosted by Hester Chapter 54, Order of the Eastern Star. The event will begin at 6 p.m. at the Mountain Shrine Club in Whitesburg.
