October 4 — The Pine Mountain Regional Industrial Development Authority will meet at 12:30 p.m. at the Pine Mountain State Resort Park in Pineville.
October 6 — The McRoberts Community Center will hold a community-wide yard sale. The center asks that residents place their items for sale in front of their house. The center hopes to make this an annual event.
October 18 — Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College faculty member Brian Fields and Homer Pigman of the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife will give a free workshop covering the issues our area in having with bears from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Belinda Mason Building on the Whitesburg Campus of SKCTC. October 23 — Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College and Selling to the World will offer a free workshop, “Behind the Scenes with Kentucky Educational Television.” The workshop will cover topics such as careers in video production, basic camera, lighting, and sound techniques, and green screen use. The event will be held on from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Belinda Mason Building, room 122. Seating is limited. November 12 — Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College will hold a workshop to make holiday keepsakes at Whitesburg Campus Caudill Hall, Student Lounge from 6 to 8 p.m. Sandy Holbrook and Peggy Conklin will be instructors at the workshop which will cost $10. Children (ages 2-10) will paint their own handmade wooden ornaments to decorate for Christmas. Adults and parents will create their own holiday wreath.
