December 8 — Cornerstone Church of Whitesburg will celebrate 25 years of ministry at 7 p.m. with speaker evangelist Mike Manuel of Revelation Power Ministries in Logan, W.Va. Cornerstone Church is located at 676 Hwy. 2034, in Whitesburg.

. December 9 — The Whitesburg Christmas Parade will begin at 6 p.m. in downtown Whitesburg. Cash prizes will be awarded for first place ($200); second place ($150) and third place ($50) for winners of best floats. Santa Claus will be at the Harry M. Caudill Memorial Library following the parade.

. December 9 — The Letcher County Retired Teachers will meet at noon at Las Penas Restaurant in Whitesburg. Those attending should bring non-perishable food items for donation to the food pantry.

. December 9 — The Letcher County Extension

Office will sponsor a holiday bazaar at the County Extension Office in Whitesburg from noon to 9 p.m. Attendance is free to the public. Crafts, gift ideas, lovingly used holiday ornaments and decorations, bake sale items and handmade items will be available. Soup and salads will be for sale. Groups and individuals may reserve tables for $10. For more information or to reserve a table, call 633-2362.

. December 9- 10 — Christmas on the Hill at the Old Carr Creek High School in Knott County will begin at 5 p.m. with a

family fun night. On December 10, music by Will Caudill will begin at 6:30 p.m. The event will include door prize, cakewalks and refreshments.

. December 10 — Benny Jones Band will play at Country Cabin II in Norton, Va. The show will take place from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and $1 for children 2 to 11 years old.

. December 10 — The Seventh Sons Motorcycle Club will host a Christmas toy give-away on Dec. 10 from 12 to 3 p.m. at the old McRoberts School. Children must attend to

. December 11 — The annual presentation of The Nativity Play will be held at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Pine Mountain Settlement School Chapel. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. for special Christmas music. A reception will be held in Laurel House following each performance. Everyone is invited to attend.

. December 14 — A blood drive by the Kentucky Blood Center will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Mountain Comprehensive Health. Blood donors must be at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in general good health. For more information, call Misty Adams at 633-4871.
