March 23 — There will be a free pottery workshop on at 5 p.m. for ages 14–25 at the Boone Youth Dropin Center in Whitesburg, across from the Appalshop. The workshop includes a wheel throwing demonstration, and hands on with the basic fundamentals on pottery making.

. March 28 — Mountain Settlement School will host a

gathering from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Loyal Jones Appalachian Center at Berea College. The event will include Pine Mountain bread, sorghum grown and produced on the settlement school campus, and beverages. For more information, call (606) 558- 3571.

be held at noon at the Letcher County Extension Office in Whitesburg. All women attending will receive free baby items. Lunch will be provided. . April 21 – 23 — Pine Mountain Settlement School will host its annual Wildflower Weekend. During this program, folks of all ages will participate in guided hikes along forested trails, eat farm-fresh meals, and enjoy the beauty and relaxation of this environment. . April 30 – May 5 — Legendary preservationist Bob Yapp and historical preservation expert Patrick Kennedy will be present for a five-day, hands-on learning experience on the campus of Pine Mountain Settlement School. For more information, call (606) 558-3571.

. May 5 – 8 — Black Mountain Wildflower Weekend, sponsored by Pine Mountain Settlement School, will take place on the highest point in Kentucky, Black Mountain. The mountain is home to many rare species of wildflowers including painted trillium, rosy twisted stalk, purple fringed orchid, and Kentucky’s largest population of Turk’s cap lily.
