June 14-17 — The Letcher County Central High School cheerleaders will host a cheerleading camp from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the LCCHS gymnasium. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., June 14. The camp is open to ages three years old through eighth grade. Focus will be on tumbling, motions, stunting, sideline and floor cheers. Refreshments will be served and participants will receive a free camp shirt. Applications may be picked up at the LCCHS office, from any cheerleader or at Community Trust Bank. June 27 —The National Black Lung Association will meet at 2 p.m. at the Letcher County Extension Office in Whitesburg. Staff members of the Respiratory Clinics of Eastern Kentucky and local attorneys who assist with federal black lung claims will be at the meeting to provide information and answer questions. All retired and active miners, widows, spouses and others who are interested in working with the local chapter of the National Black Lung Association to improve the black lung laws for miners and their dependents are requested to attend.
