. June 26-30 — The Scott Cornett Baseball Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Alice Lloyd College baseball field. Camp personnel will be ALC head baseball coach Scott Cornett, ALC assistant baseball coaches David Hatfield and Brandon Arnold, and former and current ALC players. The camp is for players ages 5 to 18 and the cost is $100. Participants should bring gloves, baseball shoes, bat, batting gloves, hat, helmet and tennis/running shoes. . June 26-30 — The Fleming
Baptist Church will hold Vacation Bible School from 4 to 6:30 p.m. each day. A bus will run and dinner will be provided. An adult class will take place at 6 p.m. Lunch will be on the square from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday, and family fun will be at the church Tuesday and Thursday 6:45 to 7:30 p.m. On Wednesday night, singing and service will be at 7 p.m. on the square, and Friday night there will be a block party at 5:30 p.m. with inflatables, games, drawings, singing and dinner.
. June 27 —The National Black Lung Association will meet at 2 p.m. at the Letcher County Extension Office in Whitesburg. Staff members of the Respiratory Clinics of Eastern Kentucky and local attorneys who assist with federal black lung claims will be at the meeting to provide information and answer questions. All retired and active miners, widows, spouses and others who are interested in working with the local chapter of the National Black Lung Association to improve the black lung laws for miners and their dependents are requested to attend. July 7 — The Letcher County Health Center will sponsor a rabies clinic at the festival site in the city park in Jenkins from 1 to 2 p.m., Letcher County Health Center back parking lot in Whitesburg from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., and in front of the park beside the Presbyterian Church in Blackey from 4 to 5 p.m. Both dogs and cats will be vaccinated. The cost is $5 per vaccination and the clinic will be conducted by Kevin Nichols and Joey Minter, DVM.
. July 15 — The Kingscreek Music Festival will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. at the Kingscreek Community Park on Hwy. 160 in Letcher County. The event will feature Cross Country Bluegrass, Sunrise Ridge, Right Fork Ramblers, John Fee Band, Will Caudill & RT7 and the host band,
