June 15-17 — Cheerleading camp in the Letcher County Central High School gymnasium. Applications available in the LCCHS offi ce.

. June and Branches, a story play scripted from stories of Letcher County citizens, will be performed at the Cowan Community Center. Doors open at 7 p.m. and showtime is 7:30 p.m. It is the story of one woman’s search to find her roots and

the importance of community. The cast is made up of Letcher County residents. The cost is $5 and refreshments will be sold. For more information, call 633-9831.

June 18 — Appalachian Strings will play at Country Cabin II in Norton, Va., from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $1 for children 2 to 11 years old.

. June 19 — A vigil, Showing Up for Love, in honor of the victims of the Orlando, Fla., shooting at 8 a.m. at the walking track bridge in downtown Whitesburg. Attendees are asked to bring memorials, such as candles or flowers. The vigil is a continuation of the Whitesburg
