Gurney Norman, author of Kinfolks
will lead sessions at this year’s Spring Writers Conference at Hazard Community and Technical College. This is the college’s 14th annual conference and Norman has been involved since its inception.
“Hazard has always been my true hometown, and I feel anchored in eastern Kentucky,” Norman said.
As Poet Laureate, he travels around Kentucky and to “try to shine a light on the very exciting time we are in now when so many Kentucky writers are creating new books for a new generation of readers.”
The conference, held on Friday, April 23, consists of three workshops. The writing workshops will be held at 10:30 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2:30 p.m.
In addition to Norman, poet Bianca Spriggs and writer Pinckney Benedict will hold sessions.
The workshops are free and open to the public.
