Democrats in races for state attorney general and auditor are enjoying double-digit leads over their Republican opponents with a week to go in the campaigns.

Democrat Jack Conway leads Stan Lee, a state legislator, 52 percent to 34 percent in the race for attorney general, according to the Herald-Leader/Action News 36 Election Poll released on Sunday.

In that poll, 14 percent remain undecided. Lee said the results “are not that bad” given that he hasn’t yet run TV ads. He said he would soon be running ads.

Conway’s campaign consultant, Mark Riddle, said he is encouraged that Conway passed the 50 percent mark.

“We have the resources and the message to continue through the last week to get these undecideds to break our way,” Riddle said.

In the auditor’s race, incumbent Democrat Crit Luallen leads Republican Linda Greenwell 55 percent to 33 percent, according to the same poll. Another 12 percent were undecided.

Luallen beat Greenwell by a mere 15,000 votes in the race for the auditor post four years ago.
