Cops look for Dry Fork robber

Police are looking for an armed robber who made off with an undetermined amount of cash from a Dry Fork convenience store on Sept. 19.

Kentucky State Police say a man in his late 40s to mid ’50s entered the Double Kwik Marathon and waited until all other customers had left the building before he pulled a knife from his jacket pocket and demanded money from the two female employees working at the counter. The robbery occurred at 3:55 p.m.

Police say the robber, described as being about six feet tall and weighing 200 to 225 pounds, fled on foot after the employees complied with his demands. He was last seen running toward Highway 15.

Police say the robber was wearing a black hat and a dark blue jacket. He had gray hair, a partial beard and a tattoo on the left side of his neck.

Troopers from KSP Post 13 in Hazard responded to the scene and were assisted by the Letcher County Sheriff ‘s Department, Letcher County Police Department and Whitesburg Police Department.
