Country dinner planned Sept. 25

The annual old-time country dinner sponsored by Letcher County Extension Homemakers will be held on Wednesday, September 25, at the county extension office in Whitesburg. That is Whitesburg Day of the Mountain Heritage Festival.

Cost of the meal is $5 per person and the dinner will be served from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. The menu is soup beans, kraut and wieners, cornbread, dessert and a drink. Carryout is available and some limited delivery around Whitesburg. Meals will also be served at the extension office.

All funds raised will go to the free Ovarian Cancer Program at the University of Kentucky’s Markey Cancer Center. Letcher County now has 386 women participating in the free annual screening.

For more information on the screening program or the dinner, call Ann Bradley at 633-2362.
