The Letcher County Clerk’s Office is now closed to the public in order to reduce exposure to coronavirus.
The office will not be transferring vehicles, will not be meeting people outside the door for paperwork, and will not be issuing any marriage licenses.
Persons needing car license renewals can send a check for the proper amount plus $2 for postage, or call the office at 633-2432 and pay with a credit or debit card. There is an additional fee of 2.75 percent for credit card payments and $2.50 for debit cards. Car licenses can also be renewed online at drive. ky.gov.
The deed room will be closed to everyone other than local lawyers and abstracts, and those persons will only be allowed in if they have not been out of the county. Only one person is allowed in the office at a time, and Clerk Winston Meade has asked people not to come in if they are feeling sick.
