StreetSide Grill & Bar of Whitesburg will soon have new management and a new name.
Current StreetSide owner Charlie Wright said this week he is leasing the restaurant and bar, which he opened in September 2011, to Mark and Joanna Hardin of McRoberts.
According to a public notice the Hardins published this week as part of their application for a license to sell alcohol, the establishment will be renamed “The 5th District.”
Mark Hardin told The Mountain Eagle this week that the new restaurant and bar will be redesigned and will focus mainly on the food end of the business and will serve lunch and dinner daily, and will be open for an alcohol-free brunch on Sundays.
The 5th District is one of two new restaurants the Hardins plan to open in Letcher County. The couple also plan to open a restaurant in downtown Neon that will serve a variety of food and be known as Pearly Joe’s.
Mayor Susan Polis told the Fleming- Neon City Council this week that the Hardins have leased the lot where the old Lillian Webb Public Library was located before it was demolished as part of a lot-for-lot exchange that allowed for the construction of the new Fleming-Neon Public Library.
