Cowan center giving away plants, seeds

Big Cowan

Cowan Community Center will be hosting a plant and seed distribution Saturday, March 31, at 9 a.m. They will be accepting applications. If people still need to sign up, call Valerie Horn, project coordinator, at 634-9468, or Carol Ison at 633-9831.

Would like to have a work day/meeting at the Obie Fields Cemetery on Big Cowan Saturday, March 24, at 10 a.m. Becky Collins and her family will not be able to do it this year. If anyone is interested in doing the job, please be at the meeting.

Families usually give donations for the job. Thank you in advance. Would like to have it cleaned, mowed and Weed- eated before Easter.

Beatrice Hammonds Allen, 74, died March 14 at a hospital in Atlanta, Ga. She graduated from Whitesburg High School in 1957 and was a sister of Charles Hammonds. She had COPD. Our sympathy goes out to the family.

My granddaughter, Michaela Dawn Fields, and her cheerleading team (The Rebels) from Greensburg, Ind., won second place in the national cheerleading competition in Ohio on March 10. Go Rebels and go Kayla. We love you.

She is a daughter of our youngest son, Chad, and Amber Fields and Diana Abbott of Greensburg, Ind. She was a little disappointed that she did not get to come down for spring break last week. We’ll see you at the end of May.

My son, Mike Fields, nor my brother Archie Ray Fields, were able to have surgery this past week, and they will be rescheduled. Archie on Tuesday, March 17, and Mike later on.

Keep all our friends, neighbors and relatives in your prayers this week.

Shelby Bockover wanted me to tell Oma Hatton that she has a picture of herself and her brother sitting on that rock at the old Pert Creek School. Lot of memories when the old pictures are posted and so much has changed since we all were kids. So much progress with new buildings, bypasses, etc.

Same in other places which is good, but we still long to go back sometimes to where it all started. Old pictures being posted recall your memories.

Everyone have a great week. Attend the church of your choice. Be good to each other. Until next time.
