The Cowan Community Center will host a new program to develop skills as effective leaders for Letcher County, or to further advance leadership skills.
The Leadership Development Program begins with a one-day workshop at the Letcher County Extension Office on Thursday, May 29, beginning at 9 a.m. Three follow-up evening meetings will be held with dates to be announced during the workshop
The meetings will be led by Mark Nigro, program associate at Brushy Fork Institute of Berea. Nigro provides leadership training for the Berea College staff as well as for communities served by the Brushy Fork Institute. The program will provide information on: What is good leadership? What makes a leader effective? What are different styles of leadership? How can group members support their leaders? These are only a few of the topics to be covered during the program.
There are no fees for participation in the program, and meals will be provided during each session. Participants must register by Friday, May 23, and registration information may be submitted to Carol Ison, Cowan Community Center Director, at (606) 633-9831 or via e- mail at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The program is paid for by a grant from the Berea College Appalachian Fund. For more information, contact Carol Ison at (606) 633- 9831.
