Cowan Homemakers finally got to meet in February, the first time since November. It sure was good to be together again. We had a partly Christmas, partly Valentine’s theme. There were 10 members present, and we were happy to have Ann Bradley with us. Cowan
A nice young lady, Natalie Baxter, was there making pictures. She is the granddaughter of Geneva Ison.
Linda Lucas of Cowan recently returned from a visit with her daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Keith Callahan, and daughters Katie and Kensie in Dovie County, N.C. While there she attended the State Cheerleading Competition in Raleigh. The Dovie County High School Competition Squad won the state championship. The squad was super in the black, white and orange uniforms. Kensi, a freshman at DCHS, is a member of the competition squad, and is also a junior varsity cheermember.
Linda also spent a week in Kingsport, Tenn., with son Jonathan and Melinda Lucas, Aiden and Mason. The boys are doing great. Mason celebrated his third birthday with a party in Dickenson County, Va., at his Mamaw and Papaw Barton’s. His brother, cousins, aunts and grandmothers all attended. Mason will start school this week.
Yvonne Brown Sutphin of Lynchburg, Va., won both first and second places by the voting of the people at the Bowen Art Exhibit in Bedford, Va. She was excited and pleased by this. One of her paintings was named Wild Flowers.
Linda Combs wishes a happy 90th birthday to Hurbert Bays, March 5. Happy birthday also to Melvin Sutphin, March 7, and Jennifer Combs in early March.
