Cowan residents are saddened by deaths

Hello everyone! Hope all had a good week.

Seems like all we get done lately is going to funeral visitations. We lost another great man of God off of Cowan. He loved God more than anything, then his family, friends and pets. Guy Stewart died Feb. 14 at the Hospice Center in Hazard. He was 52 years old and the husband of Lorraine Stewart.

Surviving beside his wife are his mother, Eunice Combs Hall; two daughters, Amanda (Michael) Bowling of Whitesburg, and Jennifer Lynn ( Shade) Halcomb of Kingscreek; three sons, John ( Misti) Hopkins of Whitesburg, Kevin (Angie) Day of UZ, and Brett Thomas (April) Day of Cowan; three brothers, Gary Stewart of West Virginia, Bennett Ray Adams of Craft’s Colly; and Gay Stewart of Jackhorn; 10 grandchildren, and several relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Johnny Stewart, and two brothers, Sonny Adams and Truman Adams.

Services were held at King’s Chapel Church with services packed both nights and the day of the service. Big Cowan

We met Guy when we first moved back here and liked him immediately. My son Mike became close with him and went to revival services with him. He is really missed by all who knew him. Keep his family in prayers.

We have lost several from Cowan in just the last few months, Jimmy Banks, Elijah Sandlin, Linda Ann Adams, Anna Lou Combs, Monroe Pack, Manuel Mc- Intosh and now Guy Stewart. They each lived within a mile of each other, except for Anna Lou Combs.

So sad for our community. Makes you feel like putting blood over your door so the death angel will pass. Pray for our community and all those that are sick.

My precious dad Jasper Fields would have been 94 years old today, Feb. 22, if he was still living. Not a day goes by that his children, Archie Ray, myself and Kathy, do not miss him.

Happy birthday to my aunt, Loreva Fields, on Feb. 22. She was married to my uncle, Ray Fields. Hope she has many more birthdays to come.

Happy birthday to Jay Bates on Feb. 24 from his cousin Christy Polly. She said to tell you she loves you.

My daughter-in-law Amber Fields will be 30 on Feb. 25. We want to wish her a very happy birthday. Happy birthday to Debbie (Roger) Eldridge on Feb. 28.

Dasia Rae Fields has an inner ear infection and Kim and Roger Hoskins’s granddaughter

Sierra is sick. My granddaughter Kayla has been sick, also Emily Mc- Intosh. Keep all of them in prayer. Also, Martha Landers needs prayer.

Well, I gotta go before we get the snow and get this out. Have a good week. Attend the church of your choice. Pray for one another. Be good to one another.

Until next time, love all of you.
