Coy Gail Riley, Sr., 60, of Whitesburg, died October 9 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.
A son of the late Bige Riley and Thelma Gibson, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Riley; a son, Jason Allen Riley; and two brothers, Wendall Lee Riley and Allen Riley.
He worked in the coal mines, and was a mechanic, a handyman and a volunteer firefighter for several departments. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include three sons, Coy Gail Riley, Jr. and wife Angie of Thornton, Thomas Emanuel Riley and wife Catrina of Isom, and Michael Ray Riley and wife Arielle of Payne Gap; Nathan Snowden of Mayking, whom he reared like a son; his stepfather, Mark Gibson of Haymond; a daughter-inlaw, Kayla Riley of Bottom Fork; nine grandchildren; three sisters, Verna Adams of Camp Branch, Rena Collins of Craft’s Colly, and Bertha Kiser of Pistol City; and two brothers, Mark Gibson of Haymond, and Emmit Gibson, of Roxana.
Funeral services were held October 12 at Lighthouse Church. Burial was at the Colson family cemetery.
