Cromona fire burned 20 acres, officials say

A forest fire which scorched nearly 20 acres at Cromona is under control, the Kentucky Division of Forestry says.

Firefighters with the Division of Forestry got the fire on School House Road at Cromona under control on October 14. The fire burned for about a week before on 10 other acres, said Mark Wiedewitsch, information officer with the Kentucky Division of Forestry.

Wiedewitsch said there is a possibility that crews will have to return to the site if the area gets no rain and dry leaves continue to fall off trees.

Forestry crews also responded to fires in Breathitt, Estill and Perry counties on October 14.

The target arson hotline for reporting information on arson fires is 1-800-27-ARSON.
