Cromona man accused of trafficking OxyContin

A 54-year-old Cromona man has been charged with trafficking in the prescription narcotic OxyContin.

The Letcher County Sheriff ‘s Department said Wayne Rose was arrested on April 17 and charged with one count of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and one count of first-degree complicity to trafficking in a controlled substance.

Sheriff Danny Webb said the arrest was the result of a oneyear investigation by the sheriff ‘s department, Kentucky State Police Drug Enforcement Section and the Appalachian HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas) Drug Task Force into allegations of the illegal sale of OxyContin.

Rose was taken to the Letcher County Jail where his bond was set at $5,000 cash.

Webb said the arrest of Rose is the first of several arrests that will be made concerning the illegal sale of OxyContin from out of state sources.
