— A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held April 19 at the new Letcher County Conservation District building in West Whitesburg. The1,800-square-foot building cost about $260,000 and was designed by Kenar Architectural Inc. of Frankfort. Cutting the ribbon were, from left, Whitesburg City Councilman James W. Bates, Mayor James W. Craft, Letcher County Judge/Executive Jim Ward, State Rep. Leslie Combs, Steve Coleman, former state director of the Division of Conservation, City Councilman Larry Everidge, Letcher County Conservation District Board Members Billy K. Banks and Ron Brunty.
