Dakota Shepherd came off the bench to score 21 points — all but four of them coming in the second half — to lead the Letcher County Central Cougars to a 72-55 win over visiting Phelps.
Shepherd also pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds during the victory, which improved the Cougars’ season record to nine wins and six losses. It was the only game LCC played last week.
Tyler Boggs scored 12 points and Greg Kincer added 11 points. Dylan Webb and Caleb Stidham each scored eight points for LCC. Trevor Hardin added four points, and Parker Williams and Ryan Lebrun contributed three points apiece. Joby Johnson rounded out the scoring with two points.
The Cougars traveled to Buckhorn on January 15 and will be on the road again Thursday (January 17) at June Buchanan and at Knott County Central on January 22.
