Recently, the Pine Mountain Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution visited the Kentucky Society, DAR, state headquarters, Duncan Tavern, in Paris. The group toured the mansion built in 1788, and ate lunch there.
A program was presented by Kaye Kuster Thomas on Americanism and historical preservation. She displayed a quilt made in the 18th century by a member of her family.
Joining the DAR members was a special guest, Dot Webb, formerly of Whitesburg. She is a charter member of the Pine Mountain Chapter, and had membership in the Hazard Chapter prior to joining the local chapter in 1976.
Duncan Tavern is home to the John Fox Jr. Library and is open to visitors for tours, Wednesday through Saturday.
