Funeral services for Darlene Sturgill, 79, were held May 5 at Eolia Baptist Church. Burial was in the Mullins Cemetery at Roberts Branch.
Born at Oven Fork, she was a daughter of the late Carl Edward and Leona Boggs Brown and was married to the late Winston Sturgill for more than 50 years.
Mrs. Sturgill was a member of Eolia Baptist Church for 36 years where she enjoyed the music program and the children’s program. She worked for 25 years as a nutrition educator for the University of Kentucky Extension Service.
Surviving are a son, Paul David Sturgill and wife Adrienne of Cromona; a daughter, Selena Smith and husband Jim of Bryantsville; two sisters, Lorene Sturgill of Tazewell, Tenn., and Carolyn Couch of Lancaster; two granddaughters, Nikki Sturgill of Nicholasville and Ashley Lunsford and husband Brandon of Phoenix, Ariz.; and three great-grandsons, Ben Carr, Alex Carr and Cameron Gibson.
Mrs. Sturgill was preceded in death by a son, Mark Stephen Sturgill.
Everidge Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
