Darwin Smith dies in Florida



Darwin Smith, 83, died March 31 at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach, Fla.

Born in Hazard, he was the widower of Esta C. Smith.

He was the owner/operator of Baker Maytag Co. in Whitesburg, and was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Veterans of Vero and the Eagles, all of Vero Beach, Fla. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving are two stepdaughters, Susie Day-Mc- Guigan, Venice, Fla., and Beverly Day Bolling, Spotsylvania, Va.; two sisters, Freda Brown, Orlando, Fla., and Hilda Smith, Winter Haven, Fla.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held April 4 in Vero Beach. Burial was in Crestlawn Cemetery in Florida.
