David Melton, 86, died December 22 at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.
Born in Perry County to the late Harrison and Mary Jane Shepherd Melton, he was the widower of Imogene Lawson Melton, and the father of the late Norma ‘Cookie’ Meade.
He was a 3rd Army veteran of World War II, a coal miner for 38 years, and a member of Millstone Methodist Church.
Surviving are three sons, Kenneth Melton and wife Fredia of Underwood, Ind., David Melton and wife Maudella of Whitesburg, and James Melton and wife Lita of Millstone; a son-inlaw, James Meade of Millstone; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held December 27 at Millstone Methodist Church. Burial was in Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine.
Letcher Funeral Home of Whitesburg had charge of arrangements.
