Hello everyone, hope you are all doing well and keeping cool.

I’m wishing for some rain. I think it’s been all around us. The gardens are all doing well and looking good.

I talked with Juanita Profitt the other day. She said she and Earl were doing pretty well. They are some of my favorite people.

We offer our sympathy to the families of David “Herb” Banks, everyone loved him, and Willie Perry. He was a great singer and musician and sang in a lot of churches for funerals. He will surely be missed. Also, to the family of Georgia Webb. She was the mother-in-law of my cousin Cecil Howard.

I got a call from my niece Betty Lou Hall the other day. She said she and her husband James “Podge” Hall, another Marlowe boy, were doing O.K. She asked me about the late Shirley Wells. She didn’t know she was the Shirley Carol Niece who grew up in Marlowe and lived in Tennessee not too far from her. She said they could have kept in touch.

Albert Tacket of North Carolina poses with his sisters, Jeanette Yonts and Deloris Holbrook. Their mother, Dorthy Tacket, has five daughters and one son. Whitesburg correspondent Oma Hatton says, “Do you think maybe all of them spoiled Albert?”

I got a call from Bertha (Page) Dye in Prestonsburg the other day. She was having the same kind of allergy problems I have had for almost a month. I’m doing better. I’m back to talking again.

My son Billy and I went to Pine Mountain Grill on Friday and saw my good friend Jennifer Absher and her daughter Danielle and her cute little boy and another boy I didn’t know. I always look for someone I know and feel cheated if I don’t see someone I know. I like people.

I also saw the wife of the late Roger Breeding and some of her family. I had never met her, but I used to take my grandson Chris Hatton to get his hair cut at the barbershop at Isom. It was real nice meeting here.

Well, my sons Astor and Rob and their families are back from their vacations and are getting back home and resting up. They all reported having a great time, especially the grandchildren.

Our church, Whitco Pentecostal Church, is really looking forward to our old friend Bro. David Miller of Dayton, Ohio, being with us on Friday, June 27. We all love him. Two of our young preachers, Bro. Jamie Niece and Bro. Caleb Howard, have been preaching at his church and they really enjoyed it. Jamie’s mother and dad, Shirley and Carfa Niece, got to go with them and really enjoyed it.

Pictured are the late Bill and Cindy Howard, their daughter Oma Hatton and Anna L. Watkins of Florida, who came for a vacation with her son Ben and wife at Carr Creek Lake. Whitesburg correspondent Mrs. Hatton says, “We sure enjoyed it.”

I’m sure Betty, Bertus and Robin Tyree are pleased to have their little grandson Grayson with them for a few days. He lives in Tennessee. Surely they are not spoiling him. He’s a cute little fellow.

Dorthy Tacket and all her family are visiting her son Albert Tacket. She will tell me all about it when she gets home. Albert lives in North Carolina.

I’m glad my brother Hubert Howard and his wife Joyce are back home. They spent some time at their camper in Tennessee.

I was pleased to get a call from my friend Shelby Feltner in London. I told her I was sure pleased to have her brother living next to me. Larry Miller is the only good renter we have ever had and we go to the same church.

I’m sure Maggie Cook and all her daughters are having a great time at Billy and Sandra’s lake house. They like to do that when Carol comes in. Ernestine and Sandra live close by so it’s a special time when they can all be together. I’ll say they have to hold up their hand to get to talk.

My son Astor is excited that his daughter Kathy Nelson and her daughter Caroline are coming to visit a few days. They live in Alabama. Astor and Rosemary love company and they sure treat them good. I know that for a fact!

I just heard that Thula Jane Ison had died. I don’t know where she was living, but she lived most of her life here. I think some of her family are still here.

I also found out a double first cousin, Fred Howard, had died in Indiana. He had been real sick. Our sympathy goes out to his sister Ida Hatton and all the rest of the family.

May God bless you and try to be in church somewhere this week.
