Day and Maggard reunion held at Cowan

Big Cowan

Hello, everyone. I hope all of you have had a good week.

The Day and Maggard reunion was held at Cowan Community Center last Saturday and Sunday. I stopped in for a few minutes to visit.

Some of the people I saw there were Georgette Day Sims, Harry Sims, and their daughter and granddaughter, Madison, from Danville; Louise Day Sturgill and her daughter Jenny, and Louise’s son, Joe’s daughter Rachel and Lee’s daughter, Kacie.

It was nice seeing all of them. They hadn’t seen me since I was a child. I think they live in Ohio. Louise is looking more like her mother, the late Rachel Day.

I saw Eugene and Irene Day, Emma Day Adams and son Chris, Frances and Jenny Campbell Day, Della Mae and Morris Maggard, Stella Maggard Bates, Gwendolyn Maggard, and Archie and Margaret Pack Fields. Pam Fields was in from Arkansas. I also saw Juanita and Marty Smith and little Marty, Roger Younce’s son (I can’t remember his name), Sandy Maggard, Pam Maggard and Pam’s daughter and grandbaby. Sorry if I forgot people’s names and who they are married to.

Paige Brown, the granddaughter of Frances and Jenny Day, also attended, and the late Willard and Dorothy Maggard’s daughters were there — Anna Lou, Linda Sue, Judy Carolyn and Darlene. I hadn’t seen Judy since I left here. It sure was good to see her.

Margaret Day Trent was also there. I enjoyed meeting and talking with everyone. Sorry if I left anyone out.

J.J. Williams was buried at the Obie Fields Cemetery. I did not know him, but I knew some of his family. Our sympathy goes out to his family.

I wanted to say that the remodeling being done at Walmart and the Family Dollar Store looks good. It’s still a little confusing on where to find stuff , but it looks good.

My brother-in-law, Eddie Wolfe, went into Hazard ARH last week and had surgery on his left arm.

He is in a lot of pain, so keep him and Kathy in your prayers. She has been staying with us while he is in the hospital, and we enjoyed having her. We laughed and talked a lot.

On the prayer list in addition to Kathy and Eddie this week are: Charles and Audrey Hammonds, Thomas Wolfe, Burdeen and Virginia Ann Gilley, Mike Rayburn, the Polly family, Irene and Eugene Day, the Taylor family, Agnes and Bill Maggard, and Thula Ison.

I hope all have a good week, and can attend the church of your choice. Be good to each other and remember, “For every finger you point at someone, you have three pointing back at you.”

So before we criticize or put another person down, let’s clean our own back yards and make sure there’s nothing about which others can find fault with us.

Until next time, may God bless you.
