Phoebe Fields, 93, died March 1 at her home at Little Cowan.
A daughter of the late Cleveland and Kate Smith Adkins, she was the widow of Nelson Fields and the mother of the late James C. Fields, William H. Fields, Richard B. Fields and Delmer J. Fields.
She was a member of the Little Cowan Primitive Baptist Church for more than 65 years.
Surviving are eight daughters, Kathryn Hoskins and husband Merle, Union, Evelyn Cosgriff and Janet Napier and husband John, all of Little Cowan, Ella Caudill and husband Mark, Ice, Juanita Caudill and husband Curtis, Asheboro, N.C., Libby Honeycutt and husband John, Whitesburg, Helen Roberts and husband Danny, Cowan, and Lisa Howard and husband Dave, Lexington; five sons, Ralph Fields and wife Donna, Orell Fields and wife Laura, and Rex Fields and wife Tilda, all of Cowan, and Dean Fields and wife Kathy and Gary Fields, all of Glade Hill, Va.; 39 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held March 4 at the Little Cowan Primitive Baptist Church. Burial was in the Fields family cemetery at Little Cowan.
Letcher Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
