Deborah Watts named to board




Deborah Watts of Jenkins has been selected to serve on the Forward in the Fifth board of directors.

Watts, superintendent of Jenkins Independent School District, will serve a three-year term on the board starting in January. She will serve as secretary/ treasurer and is one of four new members to join the Forward in the Fifth board.

Watts began her teaching career as an elementary teacher and became an elementary resource teacher during the early days of Kentucky Education Reform Act (KERA). She has been Title I consultant for Region 8 Service Center, a principal, and worked for many years in Central Office as an instructional supervisor, assessment coordinator, professional development coordinator, and curriculum supervisor.

During the last three years of her 21-year career as an educator and administrator, she has served as superintendent of Jenkins Independent School District in Letcher County.
